The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AST) Department leadsIMCO's technology-driven transformation initiatives, with a strong focus on drones, remotesensing, and digital platforms for inspection and asset monitoring. SUMMARY OF POSITION We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Engineer - Specialist to support the DroneInspection Program. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills, attention todetail, and a passion for learning and innovation - traits essential for our fast-evolving program.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of traditional infrastructureinspection and cutting-edge drone technology.This role combines drone operation support, ground-level inspections of powerlineinfrastructure, and technical and analytical tasks. You will participate in field inspections, operateadvanced sensors, and prepare structured inspection reports. In parallel, you will support thecontinuous improvement of IMCO's inspection protocols, contribute to the refinement of internalinspection software and reporting tools, and assist in the interpretation and application ofinternational standards.The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to grow their skills in inspection data collection andanalysis and will have the opportunity to pursue several career tracks based on theircompetency and interest. This includes advanced areas such as UAV sensor operations, UAVpiloting, remote sensing, GIS, and contributions to cross-disciplinary innovation projectsinvolving grid technology, Io T, and AI. This is a high-impact engineering role for someone whowants to work with purpose, grow quickly, and help shape the future of infrastructure inspectionand maintenance. Key Responsibilities Participate in UAV-enabled inspections of electrical transmission and substation assets using advanced sensors and cameras. Serve as a Visual Observer (VO) for drone operations, maintaining visual line of sight with the drone and communicating with the pilot to ensure safe flights Assist with sensor calibration, payload configuration, and real-time data collection in the field. Utilize computer software solutions to perform inspection data analysis and produce structured technical reports aligned with QA/QC procedures. Support the continuous improvement of inspection protocols and workflows based on internal findings, international best practices and international standards. Collaborate with internal teams on the development and refinement of custom software tools for inspection management and reporting. Contribute to the development of internal inspection workflows and preventative maintenance protocols. Assist in GIS-based data visualization, asset mapping, and the organization of digital inspection archives. Adhere to all safety protocols and operational standards in outdoor, high-voltage, or restricted environments. Ability and willingness to work on site and travel as required to execute project. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline such as Telecommunications or Mechanical Engineering (with a demonstrated knowledge of power systems and electrical infrastructure principles.) 0-2 years of experience for junior-level candidates, or 3-5 years of experience for mid-level applicants, in field engineering, O&M, inspection, or infrastructure-related roles in the power sector. Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Earth Pro, data file organization, and ability to quickly learn new digital tools. Clear and concise written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to write technical reports and interpret engineering standards and technical documentation. Willing and able to perform fieldwork in remote or outdoor environments, including during hot or varied weather conditions. High awareness of safety procedures and ability to operate within regulated or high- voltage areas. Personal Attributes Strong interest in electrical infrastructure, asset reliability, and structured inspection programs. Eagerness to learn and grow within a technology-driven inspection and innovation team, with the ability to adapt to evolving protocols. Interest in pursuing a career at the intersection of technology-driven data collection and analysis and infrastructure inspection Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational discipline. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent visual acuity and ability to maintain focus for extended periods. Physically fit with ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains and carry up to 15 kg drone equipment when needed during inspections. Preferred Skills and Attributes: Prior experience with drone inspection of powerlines or ground based condition monitoring (visual, IR, UV) Exposure to GIS platforms (e.g., Arc GIS, QGIS) and/or CAD tools (e.g., Auto CAD, Micro Station). Strong preference for those with completed training or certifications in Transmission & Distribution inspection, Thermography Certification, or Corona Certification. Working knowledge of international inspection standards and preventative maintenance principles. Demonstrated hand-eye coordination, ideally through prior experience with remote control systems, simulation environments, or gaming platforms. Arabic language proficiency, spoken and written. Prior safety training or certifications related to fieldwork or inspection. Existing residency or citizenship in Kuwait or Saudi Arabia.
