Reports to and advises the Diagnostic Imaging Centre HOD. Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards 1 Ensure implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and Guidelines 2 Performs professional duties as a Radiologist or directs the performance of all function of diagnostic imaging in regard to film interpretation and procedures. 3 Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of radiology and keeps the service staff up to date on new procedures and techniques through group discussions, lectures and in-service training. 4 Determines which radiological (imaging) and related service procedures are appropriate to undertake and when new techniques will be utilized. Closely working with the Chief Technologist, the requirements and actions necessary to assure availability of special equipment and supplies 5 Participates in group conferences with other physicians for the purposes of case study from a group standpoint and offers opinions from the imaging standpoint 6 Assures the adherence to proper safety precautions, infection control and radiation precautions for the protection of unit/division personnel and patients. 7 Conduct continuing education meetings for Diagnostic Imaging Services personnel 8 Provide interpretations of all tests performed by Imaging Services within a time frame established within the department per Medical Administration. 9 Participate in and help establish the educational programs conducted by medical administration and provide instructions as required to the various departments in the form of a continuing education program 10 Contribute in verification of the qualification and capabilities of all radiological technical personnel as required by Diagnostic Imaging Centre Executive. 11 Ensure their presence in the hospital while called for on-call duties. 12 Follows established policies and procedures. 13 Attends regularly scheduled meeting for the improvement of patient care services and delivery. 14 Maintains strict confidentiality 15 Co-ordinates and exercises overall professional control over the activities of Medical Registrars for ensuring that sound administrative and professional standards of medical practice are maintained. 16 Accept all other additional assignments found necessary by the Head of Department 17 18 Ensures quality and patient safety practices in DIC. 19 Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs.
