Line manager : Managing Director Middle East & Africa Join our team in Kuwait as an IT Server Administrator! The IT Server Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing server infrastructure to ensure the smooth and secure operation of organizational systems and applications. This role involves managing servers, overseeing their performance and availability, implementing security measures, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The IT Server Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the organization's server infrastructure to support business operations.
Task & responsibilities - Design, deploy, configure, and maintain server infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and associated software and hardware components. - Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. - Implement and enforce security measures to protect server systems and data, including access controls, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability management. - Install, configure, and maintain server applications and services like web, database, email, and file servers. - Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity. - Monitor system logs and alerts, investigating and resolving any server-related incidents or problems. - Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to plan and implement server upgrades, migrations, and patch management. - Maintain documentation of server configurations, processes, and procedures, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records. - Stay up to date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in server administration, actively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement. - Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end users and other IT teams for server-related issues. - Conduct performance tuning and optimization activities to improve server efficiency and responsiveness. - Participate in on-call rotation and respond to server-related emergencies outside regular business hours. Required skills & experience - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Min. 4-5 years of proven experience as a server administrator, system administrator, or in a similar role. - Strong knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix), and server virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). - Experience with server management and monitoring tools like Microsoft System Center Suite, Nagios, or Zabbix. - Familiarity with network protocols, services, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. - Solid understanding of server security principles, including access controls, firewalls, and encryption. - Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and task scripting. - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve server-related issues. - Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. - Relevant certifications such as MCSA: Windows Server, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or VMware Certified - Professional (VCP) are highly desirable.
